Wow! We are really ending the year on a high note at Diamond6. Earlier this month we attended the California School Boards Association annual conference and trade show in San Diego. It was our first trade show and we had a great time connecting with superintendents and board members all over California. Not only were we excited to share Diamond6 and our passion for leadership but we asked a lot of questions and learned a great deal about how different districts operate, their leadership needs and challenges. Jeff gave two talks about leading in a crisis which were very popular and well attended. Tom Vossler, our lead historian in Gettysburg joined us as well and took many California educators back to the Civil War through his stories and leadership explanations.
When we weren’t chatting with potential clients we were eating our way through San Diego. On the first evening Jeff organized a wonderful dinner with a few superintendents and actor Richard Dreyfuss at the magnificent Grant Grill. Richard has created the Dreyfuss Initiative through which he is promoting the important of teaching civics in schools. A topic he is incredibly passionate about. We also checked out the Top Gun paraphernalia at Kansas City Barbeque and had dinner at the local foods eatery Searsucker.
Our booth may have been small but we made quite an impression when Richard attended the conference the following day. He chatted with several school board members about his organization and attended some of the sessions with us. All in all it was a success for all! The organizers can’t wait for us to come back next year!
