History

It all began with a phone call in 2004.

While still the Dean of Academics at the US Army War College, Colonel (Ret.) Jeff McCausland was approached about conducting a military staff ride for school district in Los Angeles, CA. Traditionally staff rides are only for military personnel, but the experience and subsequent feedback were too remarkable to ignore.

Diamond6 was founded in 2010, and we’ve hit the ground running since.

A few years later, Diamond6 was founded on the belief that strong leaders are made, not born and now more than ever we are in need of extraordinary leaders. Built on the military experiences and leadership expertise of Colonel (Ret.) Jeff McCausland and the passion and entrepreneurship of his daughter Tanya McCausland, Diamond6 grew from a two-man operation to a small powerhouse team of staff and faculty. The growth of business has brought together a prestigious group of leadership experts from across the world to provide our clients with the richest and most comprehensive leadership development experiences.

What does Diamond6 stand for? (One of our most asked questions!)

“Diamond6” was Jeff’s radio call sign during the first Gulf War. As commander of the 3rd battalion, 17th Field Artillery, a unit of the 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment, McCausland led 750 soldiers into Iraq in the spearhead of the VII Corps attack.

Jeff believes that leading soldiers in combat was the most extraordinary and truly unforgettable leadership experience he has ever had. He named the business Diamond6 as a way to connect back to that experience, remember all the brave soldiers he worked with, and to inform and inspire his work in leadership development.

Big changes in 2025!

An official changing of the guards as Diamond6 is proud to announce Tanya McCausland has stepped into the new role as our CEO. With a gradual shift over the past year, Tanya has confidently taken the reigns. She brings a fresh energy and steadfast leadership to the Diamond6 team and we are excited to see where her leadership takes us as a team.
