[5-min leadership] Thinking in the Future

Being a leader feels tricky and complicated at times.

And, there are days when it's just hard!

On top of that, there just never seems to be enough time to read and implement all the things that will help us get better.

If you're feeling overwhelmed we've got you covered!

Today we're starting a "5-minute leadership" series.

Every other week we'll send you a short and sweet leadership tip that will take you less than 5 minutes to read.

It might be a strategy, a thought, or a little inspiration.

It will definitely be worth your time.

No doubt the success, if not survival, of any organization depends on solid management. Management often focuses on the near term for the organization, as opposed to the more distant future.

Every leader must make effective management decisions to deal with day-to-day issues. But the wise leader knows that they must spend some time each day looking towards the future.

You can do this by asking yourself the following two questions:

  1. Where will my organization be in a year or more?

  2. What must we begin doing now that we may not see fully implemented for a long time, in order to deal with the emerging environment?

Consider asking others throughout your organization these questions as well.

And not just those in the C-suite or who work directly alongside you!

Ask the managers, staff, administrators, those who see the day-to-day operations. Their answers and insights are often more valuable than your own.
